Attorney Earlean Laster
Earlean Laster opened the doors of Laster & Associates over 25 years ago. Since then, Ms. Laster has been providing aggressive representation in matters of family law and criminal defense.
While attending law school at the University of Wisconsin, Madison Law School, Ms. Laster interned at the City Attorney’s Office in Milwaukee, where she was responsible for drafting pleadings, affidavits, and briefs for the Circuit Court and Court of Appeals.
In August of 1997, Ms. Laster became a licensed attorney in the state of Wisconsin and quickly realized her skill and passion for helping clients achieve justice in the criminal and family courts. In September 2000, after gaining several years of invaluable experience at two local Milwaukee law firms, Ms. Laster formed Laster & Associates.
Over the past decade, Laster & Associates has established itself as one of the premier family law firms through its staff of dedicated attorneys. Today, Ms. Laster is pleased to offer representation in the following Wisconsin family matters:

In addition to practicing law, Ms. Laster remains very active in the legal community. Most notably, she was the first African-American woman appointed as a City of Milwaukee Court Commissioner, where she presided over numerous cases involving traffic violations, in-custody defendants, warrants, and municipal ordinance violations.

Marcellus was driven to join Laster & Associates to help clients navigate the criminal justice system and the obstacles that come with it.
He previously interned at the firm while in law school. Marcellus is a champion for his clients, going above and beyond to minimize adverse outcomes. His creative and direct approach to problem-solving is unmatched and distinguishes him from his peers.
He is passionate about confronting issues related to your case and the issues in your community. He believes any problem can be resolved through diligence, perseverance, and a clear vision.
Outside of the office, Marcellus is a talented artist in various mediums and enjoys discussing current events. He is also a great cook. He is a member of the Wisconsin Association of African American Lawyers and is passionate about criminal justice reform, disrupting trauma patterns within the family unit, and his dog Kobe.

Attorney Taviss Smith
Taviss joined Laster & Associates to further its mission/vision of providing zealous legal advocacy for clients with family, employment, civil, and criminal matters.
He is passionate about including his clients in the overall process of resolution of their matters as to educate them about the process and provide them with the confidence to handle these issues in the future.
Taviss has worked with the City of Milwaukee as an Assistant City Attorney in its Ordinance Enforcement Division helping Milwaukee residents resolve citations.
He has also worked in employment law, helping clients to navigate and resolve employment, discrimination, and retaliation claims.
Prior, he interned with the City of Milwaukee in the City Attorney's Office, the South Milwaukee School District, Marquette University Law School's Unemployment Compensation Clinic. He also volunteered with Marquette's Volunteer Legal Clinics.
Taviss is dedicated to helping clients navigate their legal issues and find amicable solutions to resolve them. He finds that education is key in the process and that when clients know their rights, they feel empowered to fight against injustices forced upon them. He is a firm believer of the saying, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
Outside of the office, Taviss enjoys his downtime, dedicating much of it to family and travel. He also acts as a Board of Director for the Wisconsin African American Lawyers Association, serving as its current Financial Secretary.
